The hotel is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the attractive village of Trelights. Port Quin, a National Trust Village is just over a mile away, and the quaint village of Port Isaac lies slightly nearer in the other direction.
Golf, sailing, fishing, windsurfing, coastal walks and sandy beaches, are all within easy reach.
One of the best and most famous surfing beaches in North Cornwall is at Polzeath, just under 4 miles away. The adjacent beach of Daymer Bay (5 miles) is great for families due to it's excellent, fine sany beach.
In season you can book fishing or scenic trips from Port Isaac harbour. Homer Park offers horse-riding and can be found at the top of the hill behind Port Isaac,
There are good opportunities for cycling along the Camel Trail - Padstow - Wadebridge - Bodmin - where cycles can be hired.
The nearest golf course is at St. Kew, and there is an 18 hole course at Bowood near Camelford. There are also two well known golf courses - the classic St Enodoc (5 miles) and Trevose (15 miles).
The hotel proprietor, James Bishop, is a keen golfer and member of St Enodoc Golf Club and would be delighted to assist in any way.
For leisure centres, there are Camelford Sports Centre (8 miles), Wadebridge Sports Centre (10 miles) and the Bodmin Leisure Centre (15 miles) and since 1999 Roserrow Golf and Leisure centre has offerred a vast range of facilities including tennis, swimming, golf, gym, sauna, solarium, steam and hairdresser.
Two steam railways in the area are the Bodmin Steam Railway - standard gauge - (15 miles) and the Launceston Steam Railway - narrow gauge - (20 miles). |
